How to use Ask Emma for immigration case inquiries



Hello everyone

Today, I will introduce how to use the Ask Emma feature on the USCIS website

It’s a relatively convenient tool that allows you to connect to a live USCIS customer service agent

Let me walk you through the steps

First, open the USCIS website

You’ll see a blue icon at the bottom right corner

Click on it to access Ask Emma

We directly choose the last option: "Connect to a live agent"

After that, it will guide you step by step to fill in some basic information

For example, your preferred language and whether you have a receipt number

If you don’t have a receipt number, select "No"

For now, let’s fill in the receipt number

Then it will prompt you to describe the basic issue you want to ask about

Just quickly type a few words

Like: you want to check the status of your case

Don’t worry

Once you connect to a live agent, they will ask for more details

Next, the agent will ask for basic information

Such as your phone number and zip code

And whether you have an email address

Make sure to provide your email

Once you’ve filled in all the details, you’ll move to a new window

Click "Accept," and you’ll be placed in a queue to speak with a live agent

You’ll start waiting in line

Please be patient during this step and don’t close the window

Lastly, I want to mention that recently Ask Emma has switched to a new system

And we’ve received feedback, and we also noticed when using it ourselves

That if you use the same computer, or the same email, phone number, or case number too frequently

The system may not take you to the final connection window

It may just leave you at the initial "Thank you" screen

This might be because they’ve optimized the system

To avoid multiple repeated inquiries for the same case, which would waste resources

If this happens, we suggest using a different computer

And a different email or phone number to try again

At the beginning, avoid mentioning your case number right away

This may increase your chances of successfully connecting to the live agent system

If all else fails, you can call the USCIS hotline

这里我们写的就是想了解一下基本的案件状态

不用担心

之后等连接到人工客服他们会再次询问你

他们接着会问一些基本的信息

像是电话号码你的邮编

然后是否有email address

这个邮箱我们也是一定要填的

等都填写好之后我们下一步就会跳到一个新的窗口

我们点击接受就可以开始与人工客服

就可以开始排队了

这一步一定请耐心等待不要关掉窗口

最后我们想说因为近期ASK EMMA换了新的系统

所以我们收到一些反馈包括我们自己在用的时候也发现

如果我们用同一台电脑然后或者是我们可能用同一个邮箱电话以及案件号来去查询

太多次太频繁的话他们可能无法跳转到最后的连接界面

而仅仅停留在最开始的一个thank you的界面上面

这可能是他们的系统进行了优化

他们避免重复多次查询同一个案件导致资源浪费

那么这样的话我们建议大家可以换一台电脑

然后用不一样的邮箱电话号码去查询

在最开始也不要告知不要提到我们的按案件是什么

这样的话有可能会比较成功的连接到人工系统

如果实在不行的话我们也可以打USCIS的一个热线电话
